Swim Lessons- Preschool (Ages 3-5)
Each class is led by a YMCA Certified Swim Instructor with a max of 5 children.
This small child to instructor ratio ensures safety, quality and engagement of all children.
Students learn personal water safety and achieve basic swimming competency by learning two benchmark skills.
- Swim, float, swim
- jump, push, turn, grab.
These skills are recommended for all ages to have around water.
**Due to unpredictable weather we may have make up days, which are typically Friday. Our goal will be to provide the full session of 6 lessons.

During this stage, your child will develop intermediate self rescue skills performed at long distances without assistance.
Benchmark skills that will be practiced during Stage 3 Preschool Lessons are:
- Submerging to retrieve an object
- Swimming on front and back 10 yards
- Treading water independently
- Swim, Float, Swim for 15 yards
This stage will best prepare your child the opportunity to pass the YMCA swim test, which is required to take at the YMCA.
These classes take place twice a week for four weeks, and include eight 30 minute sessions.

- Treading water
These classes take place twice a week for four weeks, and include eight 30 minute sessions.

During this stage, your child will develop intermediate self rescue skills performed at long distances without assistance.
Benchmark skills that will be practiced during Stage 3 Preschool Lessons are:
- Submerging to retrieve an object
- Swimming on front and back 10 yards
- Treading water independently
- Swim, Float, Swim for 15 yards
This stage will best prepare your child the opportunity to pass the YMCA swim test, which is required to take at the YMCA.
These classes take place twice a week for four weeks, and include eight 30 minute sessions.
